In Pind Daan, the Hindu religious homage for the souls of the departed and spirits of ancestors, pind is the symbolic offering in the ritual. Pind is a ball of rice or wheat flour mixed with dried milk, honey, and sesame seeds. The Hindu priests officiating the ritual offer seven pinds or balls. One of these seven balls is specifically offered for the soul of the deceased family member.
